Café of the Year!

It was a nail-biting start to 2015, but The Hazelmere outshone hundreds of local businesses to be crowned Café of the Year in the prestigious Cumbria Food & Drink Awards.

Nominations for the fifteen different categories come not only from experts within the field, but also Cumbria Life readers. Four establishments were shortlisted in the ‘Best café/tea shop’ category, which The Hazelmere went on to win.

Now in their fourth year, the Awards are a celebration of the gastronomic talent in the Lake District. The independent judging panel, chaired by Steven Doherty, chef in Lakeland’s ‘First Floor’ restaurant, has a wealth of expertise and knowledge in the food and drink industry.

The awards dinner took place on 5 March, hosted by Kendal college with the prizes awarded by Helen Skelton.” We are utterly delighted to have won the award and this accolade reflects the hard work and passion of all the staff at The Hazelmere.
